The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to start the direct distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to filling stations across Nigeria beginning Monday, September 15, 2025, with a reduction in pump prices.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the refinery confirmed that the gantry price has been fixed at N820 per litre, while retail prices will vary depending on location. Fuel will sell at N841 per litre in Lagos and other South-Western states, while residents of Abuja, Rivers, Delta, Edo and Kwara states will pay N851 per litre.
“The first phase of the deployment will cover the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Kwara, Delta, Edo, Rivers and South West states, with nationwide expansion planned as additional trucks are delivered,” the company explained.
CNG-Powered Distribution to Save N1.8 Trillion
The refinery highlighted that the distribution programme will rely on compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks, a move expected to lower operating costs and pump prices. “This transition to CNG-powered transportation is expected to save the Nigerian economy over N1.8 trillion annually. The move is designed to cut fuel distribution costs, reduce pump prices, and ease inflationary pressures,” the statement read.
Support for MSMEs and Dormant Filling Stations
According to the Dangote Group, the initiative will directly benefit over 42 million micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by reducing energy expenses and increasing profitability. The company also revealed it is investing over N720 billion into the programme, which will help revive dormant filling stations nationwide.
The project is also expected to create new jobs, including truck drivers, filling station managers and fuel attendants, thereby boosting employment opportunities across the country.
Call for Stakeholder Partnership
Urging stakeholders to support the rollout, the refinery invited petrol station operators, telecom companies, and bulk fuel consumers to register for the scheme.
“We invite fuel station operators, telecommunications companies, and large-scale fuel consumers to partner with this programme to ensure its success and maximise its economic impact,” the company added.
With this initiative, the Dangote Refinery is positioning itself as a major player in reducing Nigeria’s fuel costs, easing inflation, and supporting small businesses.
