The Osun State Government has rolled out Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service designed to improve digital access for residents, students, businesses, and communities across the state.
The announcement was made on Monday in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, who explained that the initiative is part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s digital inclusion agenda.
According to the Commissioner, the free Wi-Fi will initially be available in key government facilities and learning centers. These include the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, as well as offices within the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy.
Governor Adeleke described the initiative as a major step towards opening up new opportunities for people in Osun State. “Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” he said.
The Special Adviser on Innovation, Azeez Badmus, noted that the current rollout is only the beginning. “This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future,” he explained.
The Osun Government added that more locations will be connected in phases, making the service accessible to wider communities over time. The free Wi-Fi is expected to support education, health, agriculture, and commerce while bridging the digital divide in the state.
