International students can now apply for full tuition and living expenses to study master’s degrees in Sweden.
A major door has opened for international students dreaming of Europe. The Swedish government officially launched the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals 2026. This program offers a fully funded opportunity for ambitious people to pursue master’s degrees in Sweden.
A Short Application Window
Time is ticking for potential candidates. The Swedish Institute confirmed that the application portal opened on February 9, 2026. However, interested applicants must act quickly. The window closes later this month, on February 25, 2026.
According to a recent update, the scholarship targets experienced workers. Specifically, it seeks those wanting advanced education ahead of the 2026 academic year.
Financial Benefits and Perks
This scholarship removes financial barriers. According to the Swedish Institute, the package covers full tuition fees. Conveniently, the institute makes payments directly to the universities.
Moreover, students receive significant daily support. The package includes a monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000. This covers food, accommodation, and other needs. Additionally, recipients get a one-time travel grant. This amounts to SEK 15,000 for relocation costs.
Furthermore, winners gain access to the SI Network for Global Professionals. This network offers leadership training and valuable workshops.
Eligibility Requirements
The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals 2026 focuses on leadership. Therefore, it supports one or two-year master’s programmes. Eligible fields include governance, public health, entrepreneurship, and STEM subjects.
However, criteria are strict. The institute stated clearly:
“The scholarship is strictly open to global professionals with verified work and leadership experience.”
Consequently, you must show proof of employment. This can include freelancing or business activities. Also, you need evidence of leadership from civil society or work.
Eligible Countries
Geography plays a major role in this process.
“Applicants must be citizens of one of the 34 eligible countries,” SI added.
These nations specifically include:
“Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zambia.”
How to Apply
First, you must follow the correct order. The institute said prospective applicants must apply for a master’s programme first. You do this through Sweden’s official University Admissions platform.
Importantly, the committee will reject scholarship applications without a valid programme application. Thus, admission results come out first. Later, the Swedish Institute announces the scholarship winners.
Next Steps
Applicants should gather documents immediately. You need proof of work experience and motivation statements. Finally, remember the deadline. The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals 2026 portal closes on February 25, 2026. Submit everything before then to secure your chance.
