In a stunning victory for Nigerian education, three young Nigerian students have swept the top awards at the prestigious 2025 TeenEagle Global competition in London, drawing effusive praise from President Bola Tinubu.
Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu was crowned the Overall Best in English Language Skills, showcasing exceptional mastery on the world stage. Fifteen-year-old Rukayya Muhammad Fema emerged as the undisputed Overall Best in Debate, while Hadiza Kashim Kalli clinched the coveted Outstanding Talent Award (Gold Medal).
Presidential Applause and National Pride
President Tinubu, in an official statement released by the State House today, hailed the trio’s remarkable achievement. “President Tinubu heartily congratulates… these exceptional young Nigerians for the feat,” stated Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, adding that the President “affirms that the nation’s future is much brighter with many of its youth as repositories of excellence.”
The President extended his commendation beyond the students themselves, recognizing the vital role of Nigeria’s educational institutions. He declared their accomplishments “a testament to the quality and potential of Nigeria’s education system as a nurturer of some of the world’s brightest minds.”
Linking Excellence to Education Policy
President Tinubu directly connected the students’ success to his administration’s focus on education as a cornerstone of national development. The statement highlighted the government’s “significant investment in the sector” and specifically pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a key initiative removing “financial barriers for indigent Nigerians seeking higher education.”
“President Tinubu believes that education is a critical element for national development,” the release emphasized, positioning this international win as validation of that belief and the government’s ongoing efforts.
A Call for Continued Success
The President concluded his message with a personal note of encouragement to Aminu, Fema, and Kalli, urging them to “remain steadfast in their studies” and wishing them “continued success” in their future endeavors.
This resounding victory at the TeenEagle Global competition not only brings immense pride to Nigeria but also shines a powerful spotlight on the talent nurtured within the nation’s schools and the government’s renewed push to empower young Nigerians through education.
